About Me

I have been researching my family tree for the last seven or eight years.  I began researching my family tree when I was about 12 years old.  However, I have been researching heavily for the last six years.

My love of genealogy was cemented during a visit to Tennessee to see my grandfather.  When I asked him about an innocent question about his parents, he firmly told me not to "worry" about it.  The lack of answers made me do some investigating on my own.  Through my interviews with other family members and friends, I found out that my grandfather had a strained relationship with his father and that his mother died early, which is why he was not comfortable discussing his parents.

I write two genealogy blogs: Elyse's Genealogy Blog and The Graveyard Rabbit Student.  I also create genealogy videos on Youtube.  I enjoy writing about genealogy and speaking about genealogy.  You can find me on Facebook, Twitter (@GenealogistElys), and Second Life (Abigail Edring).  You can also email me.

My Genea-Dream is to become a member of the DAR, NEHGS, and a genealogy author and lecturer.

I am currently a college student in the Los Angeles area and in my second year of college, studying to become an elementary school teacher.  I have dreamed of being an elementary school teacher since I was in kindergarten and I will be following in the footsteps of my uncles, aunts, and cousins.
